Whilst Croatia celebrate It’s membership of the EU from July 2013, is it time the UK took at look at it’s welfare reforms to ensure it dosn’t burden alone the responsibility of being the bread basket of Europe, as we progress through the 21st century.

The EU and the United States are now working to persuade Asian countries to reduce their purchases from Iran as well. Iran has already threatened to retaliate over the sanctions by blocking the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the Gulf, through which 20% of the world’s oil exports pass. Meanwhile, the Pentagon said the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, as well as a British Royal Navy frigate and a French warship, have passed through the Straits of Hormuz at the entrance to the Gulf without incident in the wake of Iranian threats to block the trade route….Keep a close eye on Fuel prices as I have noticed an increase at Haverhill Sainsbury’s.
Its a fact that our prisons are high cost overcrowded institutions , it could also be an indication that current punishment for crime isn’t effective in preventing re-offending. One suggestion is for those convicted for vandalism should serve 2 years of compulsory national service, the benefit would be both to the individual in learning manners, discipline, respect for others and their property, and a trade. The general public would benefit in the service they would give in protecting our country and the high likelyhood they would not re-offend but instead take a grip and make something of themselves. There is an increasing incidence of mindless car vandalism. Locally to me around 4am there was an incident of some 14 cars being damaged with spray paint. An unusual trade mark of these vandals is they can actually spell.
The new take away at Audley End station is very good…service, portion size, quality of food is all excellent, so on your way home one evening why not try it yourself..you won’t be disapointed.

It’s likely to freeze most nights this week, so maybe a good idea to ensure you have plenty of de-icer in the car,and to ensure you turn everything off when parking the car, as batteries at less than full charge may well succumb to the cold conditions. With the mild winter (so far) finding favour with most of us..it is causing concern amongst commercial Rhubarb growers. Rhubarb need the winter frost to kick start growth, and whilst forced rhubarb is being grown the main crops need the real chilly weather, and it looks like it might be arriving this week-end as the temperature is set to plummet, but for how long?
